GG: I am now currently working at Design Agency in Jakarta as Art Director.

Where are you from?
Jakarta Indonesia

Design Education:
I was graduated from Billy Blue, Sydney Australia couples years ago.

Could you share with our viewers the history behind vektorjunkie.com:
I want to have my own personal graphikal playground that's littel bit different with what I have to do daily. Since I love vektor graphik, so I decided to called it vektorjunkie. The inspiration came from music, movie, magazine and almost everything can be source of inspiration to me. I work a lot from imagination as well as source of ideas and image reference.

What are your thoughts on community websites such as Computer
Love, DIK and Pacdesco?

Great!

How did you start out as a vector artist?
I am not really a vektor artist :)

What are the biggest problems have you ran into operating an online community magazine?
Selecting the entries.

What do you like best about having an online community magazine?
I've also gained a lot of experience and knowledge from meeting so many excellent designers who have kontributed to vektorika. They've been great and without them this project would have realized.

Rob Lindstrum of Design Chapel has got to be one of my favorite vector artists and his site has really nice flash work. Are you thinking of creating any flash work in the near future?
Ehm.. maybe not in the near future though

We're thinking of also selling shirts, how has that market benefited vectorjunkie.com?
It's help promoted vektorjunkie.com

What do you do besides create awesome vector art?
Beside vektor graphic/print/web, I've tried exploring other media too. Now I am currently experimenting with stencil graffiti arts.

What softwares do you currently use?
Mostly I use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver and InDesign.

Do you think Flash is cool or overused?
Sometimes its still cool.

Any future projects you can share with the Pacdesco community?
I'm currently working on new vektorjunkie projekt with helps from Tema
(vectorizedme.com) and 10 others vektor fanatik from around the world,
hopefully we will launch this projekt early 2005.

Indonesia is a beautiful place. What do you love best about living in such a great country?
Defenitly great food :)

Thank you so much for doing this interview. Any last comments you would like to share?
Thanks for the interview and may the VEKTOR be with you :)

“A little while after the release of the first tokyoplastic; it was getting 40,000 hits a day, which was very surprising and cool and made us happy and we received a lot of enquiries from potential clients. Prior commitments meant that it took a whole year just to get to the position where we were able to start accepting the offers.”

“Style is a good thing - but if anything I would like to be as diverse as possible - stylistically. To corner oneself into a certain style only means that one is limited. It's the age-old debate over specialization versus generalization. I find that as a designer - if a client were to present a problem to me, I need to be fully capable of solving that problem in any way possible..”

“I've just been drawing like mad since I was two feet tall, and haven't stopped. When I was younger I was really into cartoons (I'm sure most kids were), and I used to sit in front of the TV for hours drawing what I saw. Then I started making my own characters and drew them in scenarios with the characters I saw in TV. Then I discovered comics and it was all over, ALL of my money went towards those for
the next 8 years....”
