In 2004 Pacdesco was the first site from Honolulu, Hawaii to feature various types of artists, professional and novice from around the globe. We hand picked them by their talent not by their experience or schooling.
Many of these artists have gone on to make a living creating digital artistry for fashionable corporations, you may have seen some of their work on-line, television, print ads, music videos, or even the movies.
Pacdesco started off as a freelance design company that catered to small businesses in Honolulu, Hawaii. Marc the Founder of Pacdesco had always wanted to develop an online community of designers, however he didn't want it to be like most communities that only featured well-known designers and artists. He felt that there were a lot of hidden talent out there that needed to be showcased.
Back in 2004, when asked what inspired him to create this site, Marc replied: "...in majority of the design forums I've been to there were just too much professional designers bashing on novice ones without really giving them inspiration. Construction Criticism was more like a comment from Simon Cowell from American Idol. The funny thing was, a lot of these novice designers had more potential than the professional ones and I just felt it was about time there was a community that didn't just cater to the 'Elite' but every designer who loves what they do..."
Nowadays, Marc is still Freelancing and also being sub-contracted by local firms throughout Honolulu. He is blown-away by the minds of these young and talented New Media Artist who are constantly adapting to what the internet and digital media has got to offer. The more they grow, the better our online visual experience becomes - this is why he himself is working hard to keep up with the evolving technical aspects of this amazing invention we call the web.
“A little while after the release of the first tokyoplastic; it was getting 40,000 hits a day, which was very surprising and cool and made us happy and we received a lot of enquiries from potential clients. Prior commitments meant that it took a whole year just to get to the position where we were able to start accepting the offers.”
